Some website owners simply put up a site and hope that people surfing the web will find them, but there are more proactive things you can do. With just a couple of hours each day, you can create a lot of ways for people to both find your website and decide that it is worth visiting. Your goal is to get as many people to your site as possible. You have to remember that the more traffic you get, the more sales you will make. Isn’t that what attracted you to internet marketing in the first place, the opportunity to make lots of sales? Just use some of these methods, and you will find that more people start landing on your site.
Keeping your site fresh with new content matters, and using a blog for that is a great approach. If you simply let your page stagnate, your only hope of making sales is to attract the “one time” visitor. And the reverse is true, fresh content keeps ‘em coming back for more. You’ll be able to make more sales if people return to your site, preferably every week. Updating your site regularly builds your reputation and increases your traffic. It’s all good.
Ask people to contribute articles and other content to your site. Offer them a link back to their own websites in exchange for a few hundred words on your niche topic. There are two ways that this arrangement is worthwhile for you. Having more outbound links can help raise your page rank. The other advantage is that you’ll be getting an inbound link, another desirable benefit. Since people are always looking for publicity, when you publish someone’s content, they are very likely to mention this on their own website, giving you a link back to your site. So this technique gives you links that are both inbound and outbound, and you can also get traffic directly from the site of the person who contributed the article!
Take some time and find some high quality newsletter publishers in your niche market area. Try to build a relationship, and then request if you can contribute some articles to their ezines. Of course you will not ask for payment, but rather be able to use include your link in the bio section. If you write good articles, with good information, you’ll see that many newsletters publishers will let you do this. You’ll never know unless you try, and it may lead to something really good.
There are literally hundreds of ways to create traffic to your site. Depending on what you do, it can be an ongoing process that must be tended to all the time. Unless you outsource, building backlinks and working on traffic should be attended to each day. It doesn’t have to be so boring with all the various methods available. So maybe just think in terms of the money those efforts will bring you.
