Facebook Social Network
June 2nd, 2010 | Posted in Web Design.Individuals, of all different ages, enjoy meeting and communicating with other internet users. Despite the fact that individuals of all ages use the internet to socialize, there are certain groups of individuals that do more than others. Those groups of individuals include students, both high school students and college students. For that reason, it is only fitting that there should be a social networking website that has a focus on these particular individuals. That networking website is known as Facebook.
Yahoo! 360 and MySpace may be popular spots for this age group, but Facebook is still an enormously well-known place for these individuals to network. Because Facebook tends to focus on that demographic–high school and college students–they are quickly becoming a preferred site. Registering with one particular network is a requirement on Facebook. High schools and colleges where you are currently a student, or where you have attended in the past, can serve that function. Getting in touch with others in the same network is easy after you’ve joined the website and specified your network.
But there can be disadvantages as well as advantages to the Facebook network one has chosen to join. The reason behind this is that Facebook does not operate in the same manner as others of the websites devoted to social networking. You become limited to communicating with only those who have registered for the same network as you, not allowing you to contact any site members you want. Your own security is the reason Facebook limits your contacts. But you may not want to be limited in who you communicate with, even though filtering who may see your profile is considered by Facebook to protect your safety.
Facebook now includes another network available to users, even though most of the website’s traffic is generated by high school and college students. Now the site offers workplace networks. A particular workplace network allows you access to others who may be fellow employees who work at the same company you do.
With so many companies growing and expanding all over the United States and even internationally, this feature is a useful one. It is entirely possible you will be able to connect with long lost coworkers, even ones you have never met in person!
