5 Tips on Web Site Quality Control

1. Links
Make sure that your links are easily visible to your visitors and be sure to check that your links are all working and are not badly linked.
2. Images
Are your images optimized? Do you have the rights to use those images? Make sure you are using the right image format and the right compression so that that your images will load smoothly. Do not use copyrighted images without permission. (Always be safe than sorry.)
3. Load Time
Make sure your web pages load in a timely fashion. If your pages take longer than nine seconds, you may need to reevaluate things.
4. Code
Is your code clean and valid? Is it up to W3C Standards? Check to see that you don’t have any unnecessary tags, that your CSS and Javascript is in external files and that your code to text ratio is at a good level. (25% +)
5. Browser Compatibility
Do your pages work in Internet Explorer 6 & 7, FireFox, Safari and Opera? Don’t know? Head over to BrowserShots and test out your web site in different browsers.
