Build Your List With Giveaway Events
May 7th, 2010 | Posted in Web Hosting. So, here’s my step-by-step guide to contributing to a giveaway event.
DOMAIN NAME
Are you really serious about a career in Internet Marketing? Yes? Then you’re going to need to get yourself a domain name, so that you can have your own web-site. I would suggest that a Wordpress blog be the way forward with www(dot)yourname(dot)com as the domain name.
You will also need your own space on the internet in order to offer free gifts for your subscribers to download so you may as well get a blog anyway.
I won’t be covering how to set up and build your Wordpress blog in this post but I would advise you to use Namecheap to register your domain and Hostgator to host it.
It only costs $9.69 per annum to register a single domain with Namecheap plus ther is a freely available discount voucher for 88cents.
“88 cents? are you sure?”
Not a life-changing sum of money I know, but a 9% discount it is nonetheless.
Enter “Namecheap coupon” followed by the current month and year and Mother Google will find your discount code for you.
If you need assistance in setting up you blog then do as I did and follow Tommy McLaughlin’s Blog Set Up Tutorials
HOSTING
I use Hostgator and have absolutely no complaints with their service. I signed up with their “Baby Croc” package, which costs around $90 for the year, which allows for the hosting of unlimited domains for the year.
Hostgator have a live one to one instant message facility, which I have used on 3 seperate occasions. Each time the representative sorted out my problem with a minimum of fuss. There are other companies out there but I’ll stick with what I know thank you very much.
Again, discount coupons of as much as 20% are available if you use the magic of Google. If you’re reading this in March 2010 then try the code “TOPHOST”
CHANGE DNS
“Say What?!”
Namecheap have their own domain name servers (DNS) which need to be changed over to those supplied by Hostgator. Ignore this advice if you intend to use the same company for both registering and hosting your domain.
Hostgator do have a great tutorial video for this. Follow the link at the bottom for more information.
AUTORESPONDER SERVICE
You’re getting close now to starting to build your very own list of subscribers. An autoresponder is a vital resource for you to manage the details of your list.
In my opinion you should use Aweber to manage this vital piece of the jigsaw. They are the industry leader and their web-site has a lot of usefull resources.
AWeber costs around $16 per month and the first month is only $1
GIVEAWAY PRODUCT
You’re nearly there now, just need a product or products to offer as gifts in order for you to commence your listbuilding experience.
Assuming you don’t have your own product, there are tons of inexpensive and free eBooks out there which you could use. Look out for ebooks with Master Resale Rights (MRR – products for you to do with as you please EXCEPT alter) and Private Label Rights (PLR – Yours to to with as you please).
My advice would be to choose your product wisely, as the better the product, the more subscribers you will get and the more likely they will be to stay with you and become responsive.
